TCH Day 18: Post-Transplant Day 5: Day 5 on the vent
"One Day at a Time" ~AA Slogan
I think an AA reference is a pretty fitting way to begin this blog.
"Hello my name is Ashley, and I'm the mother of a narc fiend."
Seriously.
No really, not kidding.
Weston has required so much sedation and narcotics to keep him comfortable on the vent and relax him through his vagal tantrums, that he will have to be started on methadone and Ativan, or he will go through complete withdrawal when the glorious day finally arrives and he is extubated.
They gave him some blood yesterday and another medication to help the Lasix work better. So far so good, he will actually be negative for the first time ever. (Fluid balance-wise)
His cultures have remained negative, so they were able to d/c the Vancomycin. That coupled with no TPN/Lipids should help decrease the amount of fluid "in". Maybe we will finally catch up and be able to get rid of the excess.
Liver is doing great. They are pleased.
Maybe I was going stir crazy, maybe I feel completely unproductive...but Weston's room is dreadfully cold and clinical. I had to brighten it up a bit.
Not much, but it's a start. Emmy is drawing pictures for W and will bring them up this weekend! We are dying to see her!!
Finally, a "Wordless Wednesday" pic: Heaven On A Plate
