Don't Call CPS!

Poor Bubby!
Our curse has started to affect our monkeys.
Sunday, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce Wes to the big boy swing. After all, he will be 2 in a few weeks.
I was hovering and barely moving him back and forth.
He was having a blast.
Then, we stopped and went to get off. I let go of the chains for a second and he leaned forward and fell out.
:-o
Mother of the year.
He cried and cried forever.
Fast-forward to later that evening.
Still guarding and refusing to bear weight.
Our first trip to the Emergency Room.

Look at that crazy hair!

After a 3.5 hours, the X-Rays showed no fractures in the pelvis or femurs.
We went home thinking he just had a bad bruise.

Monday he stayed home with Nana while Daddy and I went to work.
Still not walking and very tender on the right leg.

Tuesday, Daddy stayed home with little man and took him back to the ER for more X-Rays.
This time they shot ALL of his leg and what do you know, he has a small, non-displaced fracture in his distal tibia.
Bubby! :'-(

Just chillin' with my broken leg

Splint for 24 hours

Wednesday

Lounging with Mommy, watching cartoons

This afternoon was our appointment with the orthopedist.
Dub has to wear a full leg cast for TWO WEEKS.
No walking.
He was nice enough to give us a water-proof cast (yay for real baths!!) and let us pick out the colors.
We opted for a manly camo.

I'm a bad ass with my broken leg, camo cast and angry dinosaur
But I have a soft side, too <3

Happy 4th Birthday to Emily

Last Monday was Emmy's 4th birthday!
(yes, I've had a four year old for almost a week and am just now posting)

My baby girl had a special day.
Her new friends and teachers got her cupcakes at school.
She picked McDonald's for dinner and had an awesome time playing in the play-scape.
Not to mention PRESENTS!

E's new ride. Pink and purple, of course

Her favorite present

Forgot to take a pic, but rest assured it was the Rapunzel cake she had been pining for since October.

4 Boxes

4 boxes...that's all we have left to unpack.
Tomorrow will mark 2 weeks since our move, and it's been a blur.
Moving has been an experience.
Mostly bad.
Not that Stephenville is bad, just the process.
There has literally been some problem at every turn.
But, it seems that we are now almost completely settled and things are starting to calm down.
As we get our stuff in place, the rental house is not so bad.
And, as of Saturday, our house in Austin has been painted, cleaned, tile and grout steamed and is move in ready. Hopefully we will have renters by the end of this week.

The kids like the new placement of the TV...they can really get into their shows

Some awesome positives:
  • Everything is within 10 minutes from the house. Grocery, work, day care
  • The toy room...never realized how nice it could be to reclaim our living room
  • Satellite TV...catching up on True Blood, Nurse Jackie and Eastbound and Down...priceless
  • Video surveillance at the kids' school. Never realized how much FUN it is to spy on the monkeys during the day

Let's see...in the almost two weeks we have been here, we celebrated Daddy Day, a birthday, Billy settled into his new job, I started orientation at my new job, the cat ran away...and miraculously made it back, I made eventful trips to local lumber and hardware stores, aaaaaaaaand I've been sewing. Cray cray!

Daddy Day present from the bebes

Poor Daddy didn't have much of a Daddy Day. He spent most of the day unpacking the SECOND Uhaul truck and doing other manual labor. He's been working so hard. We love the Daddy Daddy!!

Salute to the Shining Stars

Emily has attended the Child Development Center in Lake Travis ISD since she was 3 months old.
She has had AMAZING teachers from the get-go.
In fact, her two infant teachers, Ms. Marisa and Ms. Laura, are such an important part of her and our lives.
Not to mention her classmates...she's been with the same kids since they were babies!
It is hard to say good-bye...

Reach for the sky!!

Happy Birthday, School Style

We are a tad early in celebrating Emily's birthday, but we wanted to make sure we had fun with friends before we left Austin.

Emily has been asking and asking for a Rapunzel birthday for, oh, 8 months.
The "birthday" girl

Bubby crashed the party.
It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside whenever Emmy's classmates welcome Weston with such excitement.
They are a great group of kids. :-)

Singing "Happy Birthday".
I still don't know what her deal was.

So sweet!!
Emmy and her BFF Savannah.

Check out the tear.
Cupcakes and crying are not allowed together.

Bubby <3's cupcakes

Does this look familiar??

My Baby Girl and her cupcake
18 months old

Just after we got married, Billy's mom was telling me the story about how all the neighborhood kids would follow him around, like the Pied Piper.
Good to know he still has that effect.
Can't help but love him.

Preparing, Visiting and Interviewing

Wow. It's been crazy busy.
Last Monday (Memorial Day) we went up to Stephenville
(which is about 2 hours North West of Austin- no one seems to know where we are going!)
to finalize plans on the rental house, visit with friends and I had an interview at the local hospital on Tuesday.

The house:
Oddly dated on the inside, compared to it's exterior.
It's ok.
Hopefully, it won't be so bad once we get our stuff in and settled.
Nonetheless, we could be in an apartment or under an overpass. And, it's only for a year.

Friends:
We never doubted that either Emmy or Wes would have trouble making new friends; but it is a relief to know that they already have instant friends in our friends' kids.
On Memorial Day evening, our gracious hosts grilled burgers and hot dogs and the kids had a blast in the baby pools.
I don't know what makes me happier...the Buddha belly or the rouge butt cheek

Fun in the sun <3
Not pictured, is Weston, fully clothed, shoes and all in the pool.
Little Monkey.

The Interview:
I am excited to say that my interview went well and I was offered a PRN position (per diem) with potential of evolving into part/full time.
I'll still be in the OR, but not doing Trauma.
I'm not terribly sad to say goodbye to the traumas, the reconstructive plastics and neurosurgery. Definitely thrilled not to have to do hearts anymore!
It's a small OR, but they mean business.
I'm excited. AND it's ~5min from our rental house!
I start orientation on June 18th.
